Tuesday - Wednesday  02.09.10 - 0.2.10.10

My first class is a two day event for Final Cut Studio. This includes Final Cut Pro, Motion, Color, Soundbooth, and DVD Builder. The instructor is Mark Spencer. The class starts at 10:00 am and runs to 5:00 pm with two breaks.

This class is a whirlwind of great post-production tips on the smooth interaction of FCP and Motion. (By the way, I have very little experience in FCP and barley even heard of Motion....but I am now a fan!) It is unbelievable! There seems to be a good learning curve but what great software suite doesn't have that. This class was well done and just scratched the surface on the capabilities of these great programs. I am anxious to do my first video project!

Also. . . if you are ever in the SF area. . . go to Yank Sing and get the Deem Sum. I went twice in as many days!

Thursday - Friday  02.11.10 - 0.2.12.10

Thursday and Friday classes were quick, scratch-the-surface courses on everything from optimizing your Mac, to creating custom sound clips and loops for video. The classes are short, (around one hour), but I took in some good information.

Went down to the Tech Expo were various vendors push the latest and greatest Mac computer and design accessories. The expo features specialized software for the Adobe Suite as well as Mac specific programs....and also an array of hardware gadgets that increase battery life in your iPhone to professional usb recording microphones. The Expo was cool....but I bought nothing.

The weather was beautiful yesterday and today....and perfect for walking back to the hotel taking photos.

Summary

My overall impression of MacWorld 2010 was good. Some classes were better than others (The Final Cut course made the other classes seem like a waste of time) and some content I was already aware from the magazines and blogs I already follow. But the actual convention center was great and you can not hope for a better city than SF to come and visit. Running around the bay from the Golden Gate to the Bay Bridge was absolutely worth the trip.

I would recommend the convention to a first-timer but for the money spent, I think I will try to find another design convention for 2011.

Well....I am off to Tahoe to do some snowboarding with some friends. Want to say thank you to ADS LLC for the trip and a special thanks to Eric Lott without him it would not have been possible.
